If you want to build your own tire carrier then this hinge is a must. there are many options out there, but none compare to this. It is machined in our shop from heavy wall DOM.
Features a 1-1/4" diameter spindle, dual tapered roller bearings, oil seal, dust cap, castle nut with cotter pin. Also includes two zerk fittings for grease to ensure a long trouble free life. This will make your job much easier and first rate quality.
We are the only company in the industry that uses a sleeve and understands the importance of it in reducing spindle fatigue and failure. They expect you to weld the spindle directly into the bumper. Doing it this way makes it easier to misalign your carrier and once it is welded your stuck. That way also weakens the spindle right at the welded point. Add a good sized tire and and a little rattle and your asking for failure. Just hope it doesn't happen on the freeway.
Using a sleeve allows you to align the carrier and hinge using a roll pin. The roll pin is for a standard height setup and alignment only, it's not intended to hold the spindle in place. You weld the sleeve to your bumper not the spindle. Don't compromise strength by welding on the pivot point where all the weight is exerted.
