*Note. This item is for use with a 2" wide bumper minimum when using it without the sleeve.
When using the sleeve you will need a 2 3/4" wide bumper at minimum.
This is the answer for all of you who are looking to carry larger than 35" tires or who are having issues with your current setup.
The spindle is 1.750" in diameter and comes with a 4" long bearing housing. The bearing housing is huge at 5/16" thick with a 2 5/8" outside diameter. If you want to build your own tire carrier this hinge is a must. there are many options out there, but none compare to this. It is machined in our shop from heavy wall D.O.M.
Features a 1,750 pound rated spindle, dual tapered roller bearings, oil seal, dust cap, castle nut with cotter pin. Also includes a zerk fitting for grease to ensure a long trouble free life. This will make your job much easier and provide first rate quality.
The sleeve is a massive 1/4" thick, 4 7/16" long, and a 2 1/4" outside diameter. It is welded in the bumper which will automatically align your carrier and hinge height and give it a clean finished look.
Nobody except us provides this sleeve. They expect you to weld the spindle directly into the bumper. Doing it this way makes it easier to misalign your carrier and once it is welded your stuck. That way also weakens the spindle right at the welded point. Add a good sized tire and a little rattle and your asking for failure. Just hope it doesn't happen on the freeway.
Using a sleeve allows you to align the carrier and hinge using a roll pin. That same roll pin makes it possible to remove the entire carrier and hinge assembly for re-installation later if you ever need to. You weld the sleeve to your bumper not the spindle. We do however recommend you tack weld the spindle to the sleeve for added strength, yet light enough to easily remove if needed. Don't compromise strength by welding on the pivot point where all the weight is exerted.
