This tire carrier hinge kit is one of the strongest we offer as it features a heavy duty 1/4" thick laser cut dual shear bracket and a 1" diameter machined steel shaft. The kit comes with dual tapered roller bearings to ensure smooth operation and a long lasting life. The bearing housing is equipped with dual zirk fittings for putting grease right where it's needed, at the bearings. The housing is fully sealed and protected with double lipped grease seals on each end.
The best thing is this kit is universal in that it can be used in a variety of applications and mounted in any position! Many customers however use it as a face mount tire carrier hinge kit to mount directly onto the face of a bumper while others use it as a vertical lift, tail-gate style tire carrier by using them in a horizontal position with two mounted to the face of the bumper.

What is the distance from the inside of the dual shear bracket and the bearing housing when assembled? Is is possible to get it with a dual shear bracket with a greater standoff while still being rigid enough?
The inside measurement is 4.200" Depending on what you are welding to, it is possible to cut the bracket in half and weld in place at required distance. It is also possible to use this hinge assembly with the brackets used for our face mount hinge. The other issue you would need to address would be the length of the shaft.
